Covid-19 Guidelines

Pinelawn continues to monitor guidelines from the health agencies and our elected officials, to protect our employees, customers, the visiting public, and to prevent triggering a second COVID-19 infection surge.

As those guidelines are updated, Pinelawn will be updating our protocols and procedures.

Visitation

  • The park visiting hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, 7 days a week. Mausoleum Galleries will be open 9:30am to 4:00pm, 7 days a week.

  • All visitors must perform the COVID-19 Self-Evaluation Test before entering the grounds.

  • All visitors must wear masks when entering any of the mausoleum buildings, and any other areas of the park when social distancing is not possible.

Funeral Service Guidelines

  • Attendees are required to wear face coverings at all times and maintain a social distance of at least 6 feet from others, not living in the same household.

  • All funeral services will take place at a distance of approximately 20 feet from the location.

  • Placing loose flowers on the caskets continues to be prohibited. However, loose flowers may be placed on the ground, 20 feet from the gravesite or mausoleum wall. After the procession leaves the area, our crew will place the loose flowers with the other flower arrangements.

  • Until further notice, we cannot accommodate requests for pallbearers, as well as requests to witness backfills of graves or sealing of mausoleum crypts or niches.

  • The use of chairs, greens mats, and canopies, continue to be suspended.

  • If the family would like to witness the lowering (for grave and lawn crypt plots) or placement (for mausoleum locations) of the casket or urn, they must have their funeral director notify Pinelawn of the request before the procession lead up to the location. Families are able to witness the casket lowered either before the service or at the end of the service.

  • If the family wishes to witness the lowering or placement, they may approach the gravesite or crypt/niche wall, while wearing face covering and keeping a distance of at least 20 feet from the service crew. No one will be allowed to approach the gravesite during the lowering, or crypt/niche wall during the placement, without a face covering.

  • As our chapels and atriums are enclosed, no more than 25 people may enter the area to witness placement. Again, anyone entering a chapel or an atrium to witness the placement must wear a face covering and keep a distance of at least 20 feet from the service crew. We also require that, once our crew leaves, no more than 25 people be inside the chapel at the same time.

Funeral Service Guidelines

  • There is currently no limit on the number of attendees for a funeral service.

  • Attendees are required to wear face coverings at all times and maintain a social distance of at least 6 feet from others, not living in the same household.

  • All funeral services will take place at a distance of approximately 20 feet from the location.

  • There is no longer a limit on flower arrangements. Placing loose flowers on the caskets continues to be prohibited. However, loose flowers may be placed on the ground, 20 feet from the gravesite or mausoleum wall. After the procession leaves the area, our crew will place the loose flowers with the other flower arrangements.

  • We still cannot accommodate requests for Pallbearers or requests to witness backfills of graves or sealing of mausoleum crypts.

  • The use of chairs, greens, and canopies are still suspended.

  • If families would like to witness the lowering (for grave and lawn crypt plots) or placement (for mausoleum locations) of the casket, the family must have their funeral director notify Pinelawn prior to the procession lead up. Families are able to witness the casket lowered before the service OR at the end of the service.

Again, anyone entering the chapel or atrium to witness the placement must be wearing a face covering and keep a distance of at least 20 feet from the service crew. We also recommend that, once our crew leaves, no more than 25 people be inside the chapel at the same time.

  • All requests to witness the back fill of the graves and sealing of the crypts have been suspended until further notice.

Reception Office Guidelines

  • No more than two family members may enter the Reception Office together to purchase memorial property for an immediate need.

  • We can accommodate only eight (8) people in the Reception Office lobby, at one time. Only Funeral Directors and families purchasing memorial property for an immediate need will be allowed to enter the lobby, without an appointment.

  • A security guard will be present at all times to enforce social distancing, and will be responsible for monitoring capacity and making sure everyone is wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing.

  • For the safety of the general public, as well as our staff, each individual permitted entry into the Reception Office will have their temperature taken. Any person(s) with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher will not be provided access to the Reception Office. In addition, all individuals permitted access inside the building must wear a mask at all times and maintain standard 6’ distancing from other guests.

  • The Reception Office restrooms will not be available to the public. New outdoor restrooms are available to the public at the entrance to the Reception Office Courtyard.
