August 24, 2020Back by popular demand! Get up close with Honey Bees for the second year of our Honey Bee Experience! With 5 hives on the property, Pinelawn’s Master Beekeeper will explain how honey bees are vital to our environment.
Join Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum as we demonstrate the wonders of honey bees! At this free event, Pinelawn explains the importance of honey bees in our environment and provides a safe, up-close look at these marvelous insects. Pinelawn hosts 5 beehives on the property, housing over 250,000 honey bees that play a vital role in pollinating various gardens, trees, and shrubs in our community.

- Observe “Honey on the Comb” up close
- “Find the Queen” children’s activity using an observation hive
- Pre-packaged refreshments will be available
This is a FREE event, but registration is required.
Please note all sessions are held at Pinelawn’s Louis Natalie Mall on the west side of Wellwood Avenue (across the street from the Reception Office). See Event Map for details.
SESSION 1 – Check-in 10:00 am; Event 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
SESSION 2 – Check-in 12:30 pm; Event 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
SESSION 3 – Check-in 3:00 pm; Event 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
The total duration of each session will be 1 hr 30 min and includes the Presentation/Q&A, arts & craft, and the up-close demonstration at the hives.
Parking – Refer to the event map for parking. Signage will be on Wellwood Avenue to direct guests towards the parking location for the event.
SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE IMPLEMENTED
Check-in process:
- A mask must be worn at all times by all attendees, including children.
- Each registrant’s temperature will be checked and hand sanitizer will be provided. If you have had a fever within the last 24 hours or are feeling ill, please do not attend the event.
- After check-in is complete, each family will be directed to a pre-marked location under the event tent where they can participate in the honey bee presentation/Q&A. Each family will then be directed to a pre-marked location where they will be able to create the arts & crafts activity and see the up-close demonstration at the beehives.
- Each pre-marked location is set using 6′ social distancing guidelines.
- Portable bathrooms are available at the event.
- Water and a pre-packaged snack will be available to all guests.
