What would you like to share about your loved one’s service and dedication within the military?
Al Strollo never spoke much about his military service. Mainly funny stories and the strong bond he developed with the men in his division. He earned the nickname. “Duke” while in the Army and met my mom while based at Fort Benning Georgia. During President Trumps term he began decorating an old army jacket with his ribbons and medals and it's proudly displayed in our living room. He loved this Country. A high point of his military service was meeting Gerald Ford who eventually became our 38th President.
What is your favorite memory of your loved one? This does not have to be related to his/her military service.
Al Strollo was the single most generous man I've ever known. If you needed help he would do anything in his power to help. Always available to offer advise or encouragement. On a tenth grade education he received his HS diploma Al worked hard & climbed the ladder to become an Executive Vice President of a large retail company. He was truly a self made man. He was a wonderful father, grandfather & great grandfather. Married to wife Edna for 66 years he refused to let her go to heaven without him. He passed just four days after she passed.
