What would you like to share about your loved one’s service and dedication within the military?
Dad entered the Army in March 1951 and served at Fort Custer in Michigan, a military training facility. His service including training others on the use of heavy military weapons and ballistics. He returned to Brooklyn on leave in June 1951 just days before his scheduled marriage to his sweetheart, Anna Moraco. They both returned to Michigan, where they lived in the Detroit area until his discharge in March 1953. Then returned to Brooklyn, awaiting the arrival of their first of two sons. He was proud of his service to the country and for many years he kept in touch with many of the friends he made during his service.
What is your favorite memory of your loved one? This does not have to be related to his/her military service.
Dad was an avid Yankee fan. As I child I remember listening to the game on the radio, anxiously awaiting dad's return from a hard day of work so we could talk about the game. To the end, he could be seen wearing his Yankee jacket and cap. He was a loving husband of 64 years, and a loving and devoted father.
