What would you like to share about your loved one’s service and dedication within the military?

Our Dad, Patrick A. Servillo was a Corporal in the United States army during the Korean War. He had just gotten married to Licia when, on their honeymoon, he was drafted. He was able to finish his honeymoon, but then had to report for duty right away. After his basic training, and a short time based here in the U.S., Patrick was sent overseas for two years. He was not in battle, but was given an investigative assignment. One of his assignments was in Germany. Patrick didn’t talk about his time in the service very much (not to us, his children), but he did forge friendships and did his duty to his country, till he was able to come home to his new wife.

What is your favorite memory of your loved one? This does not have to be related to his/her military service.
We used to love to watch Dad whittling. He would take small pieces of wood and carve figures from them. It was like magic watching the figures form from blocks of wood. His daughters and their friends still have small things he made for them.
